EPIC OOPS: Celebrities and Famous Figures Who Made Epic Mistakes

We all make mistakes from time to time. Some of them are little tiny errors that can be shrugged off, while mistakes are so epic, they become legend in their own right, and burn a place into the minds of everyone for decades to come. Those are the "Epic Oops", and they are committed by normal and extra-normal people all over the earth. In this article, we're going to look at some of the biggest mistakes made by famous and historical figures.

Barrack Obama

When Barack Obama ran for president of the United States in 2007 and got elected, not only did US citizens pay attention,  the whole world was watching. People saw him as a trailblazer, being the first mutli-racial president to head the most powerful nation on earth. They watched him with awe, often spell bounded whenever they listened to his speeches. He is a great orator and possesses charisma. He made you feel and think that all the problems America are surmountable under his leadership. However, many Americans are now disillusioned because many of them are disappointed with his performance. The stimulus packages Obama has issued worth more than $787 billion in debt. It was designed to jumpstart US economic growth, but turned out to be an ultimate mistake . However, this move by Obama was met with many criticisms, among them coming from the fund’s recipients who complained about the bureaucracy involved in the said package.

Adolf Hitler

Many historians regard Hitler’s decision to attack Russia without first conquering England, as Hitler’s greatest mistake. You and I know, that his REAL mistake was believing he could take over the world in the first place, and treat people the way he did. Though from a strategic stand point, because he tried to attack Russia before taking over England, the British forces were able to regroup themselves, which then meant he had to face war from both the Western and Eastern fronts. Hitler seldom heeded the advice of his generals and his attack on Russia was one of those decisions wherein he defied his generals. Listening only to himself is Hitler’s greatest mistake, and that mistake in combination with his others, has landed him on the "Epic Oops" list of all time.

Marilyn Monroe

She was the screen goddess of the 50’s and the 60’s. Marilyn, despite her success and fame, lived a pathetic life. In one of her most famous quotes, she said that “I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” Three times married and three times divorced, she was always looking for love. Men loved her but they also abused her. Her rumoured relationship with President John F. Kennedy and his brother, Robert, only added more scandals to her life. Some even say that it caused her tragic death, because “she knew too much”.

Jacqueline Onassis

She was blinded by Aristotle Onassis’ billions so she married him only to realize that it was her greatest mistake. Onassis’ daughter, Christina, hated Jackie. Onassis’ never got over his true love who was Maria Callas and he only saw Jackie as some sort of a trophy. Jackie filed for divorce and when Onassis died in 1975, she got an estimated settlement of around $10-$26 million. However, those millions could never compensate for her unhappy years of being married to one of the world’s richest men.

Mitt Romney

While Mitt may not have yet had his opportunity to pile billions onto our countries debt, he has already made his fair share of Epic Oops's. One in particular, that sticks out in everyone's mind, is when he said more than 40% of the nation, were lazy beggars full of feelings entitlement he didn't feel they were entitled to. Another big oops, was when Mitt met with a cannabis patient in a wheel chair, and he publically refused to talk to the man once he found out he was lobbying for medicial marijuana. Mitt admited at that time, that he would rather have people suffer slow and painful deaths without cannabis, then to work towards legalizing it, even if it meant that people would live longer and happier lives because of the medicinal benefits of medical marijuana. These two moves in combination, have pretty much assured that 52% of the nation will NOT be voting for him this November.
